Jujutsu Kaisen has reached a new transitional stage between all the battles in the Culling game, and the new chapter has taken some time to finally bring Sukuna back into the series with her final moments! It’s been nearly a year since Yuji Itadori was last seen in play as the Culling Game arc spends its time following each of the team members as they face their first opponents in the deadly captured in-game colonies. But actually it wasn’t too long for any of them as only a few days had passed.
Since we last looked at Yuji, he had just finished his first encounter with Hiromi Higuruma and was able to get his help to set up a new rule that allows players to transfer points. But while he was able to achieve the first major objective of helping Megumi Fushiguro’s sister Tsumiki, the next major objective will be much more difficult as the final moments of the new chapter see Sukuna reach out to Yuji to drop some major news about the fighter before the culling game continues.
Chapter 199 of Jujutsu Kisen Megumi reunites with Yuji as it is revealed that Yuji has already captured Hana Kurusu when she tries to help Megumi after his massive fight several chapters ago. With her help they will be able to free Satoru Gojo from being trapped inside the prison kingdom, but there is a major drawback as the spirit of an angel possessed within it has a great grudge against a player known as “Shame”. But as Yuji soon finds out as the chapter ends, Sukuna is actually the person the angel is referring to.
Sukuna contacts Yuji in his mind and tells him that he is the shameful one before Yuji actually says anything about Sukuna and the fact that the soul is inside his body. It’s our first look at Sukuna at some point, and if he’s willing to call Yuji about it, it could mean something bigger is at play. Perhaps this is a sign that we will see more of Sukuna’s past as Culling continues.
